- SUBMISSION TERMS: DOCUMENTS TO PROVIDE
The submission file must be submitted online.
Comprising a maximum of 10 pages, including the bibliography, it must include the following elements:
- A summary of the project, maximum 5,000 characters (genesis, difficulties, aims)
- A detailed presentation of the project (objectives, materials and methods, expected results)
- A presentation of the project leader and their team, where applicable.
- A schedule detailing, by month, the development and research phases, over a maximum of one year
- A financing plan, detailed by milestone
This document may also contain 2 to 4 pages of appendices and/or illustrations to inform the Scientific Committee (without, however, exceeding a total of 10 pages).
A practical guide specifies how to build the 10-page scientific project, the research project summary, the budget and the schedule. This guide is available in the online application submission area.
Important: Under no circumstances does the submission of an application file for a project constitute a funding commitment on the part of the Galenic Dermatology Research Fund endowment fund, which remains entirely free to decide whether or not it intends to financially support this project, in a proportion that it determines at its sole discretion.
Each application file meeting the eligibility criteria will be submitted to the Scientific Committee, composed of qualified experts, for evaluation. The Scientific Committee is independent and acts on a voluntary (unpaid) basis. The list of the members participating in the Scientific Committee is available on the website.
The evaluation criteria applied by the Scientific Committee will include, in particular, the following:
- Suitability and consistency of the project with regard to the chosen thematic axis
- Scientific and technical quality of the project (published preliminary data, structuring of the project, originality of the hypotheses, relevance and quality of the methodology)
- Innovative character of the proposal (demonstration of the novel character of the project, of its originality both in terms of objectives and methodology)
- Organization and feasibility of the project (expertise of the project leader and the structure, adequacy of the budget to the project, realism of the proposed schedule, identification of the milestones and at-risk stages, proposed schedule, other funding already obtained)
Important: The Scientific Committee of the endowment fund is independent and its deliberations are confidential. Consequently, the applicant will not be able to have access to them.
At the end of the evaluation by the Scientific Committee, an opinion concerning the candidate research projects will be communicated to the Board of Directors (Conseil d'Administration – C.A.).
Two situations are possible:
a) Unfavorable opinion of the Scientific Committee: the decision will be brought to the applicant's attention by any written means.
b) Favorable opinion of the Scientific Committee:
The applicant will be invited to provide additional information (without this being exhaustive), in particular:
- A "general public" summary of the research project (maximum 4,000 characters)
- A photo of their research team.
Important: The decision of the Board of Directors of the endowment fund is discretionary, such that it is not required to give reasons for its decision, which is reached at the end of confidential deliberations to which the applicant will not be able to have access.
In the event of a favorable decision for possible funding by the endowment fund, the decision will be brought to the applicant's attention as soon as possible, without this constituting a firm and definitive commitment to pay the proposed funding.
Indeed, the payment of the funding may only take place after the signing of a written agreement with the endowment fund. This agreement will specify the amount of the financial support granted, in compliance with the regulations in force.
In the absence of a written contract signed by the endowment fund and the applicant within a maximum period of one year from the notification to the applicant of the favorable decision, the endowment fund reserves the right to no longer finance this project.
- From the submission of an application file and until the decision taken by the endowment fund (whether a rejection decision or a favorable decision), the applicant refrains from any use of the name, designation, brand, logo or any element identifying the GALENIC DERMATOLOGY RESEARCH FUND, except with the prior written agreement of the latter.
- Any publication — written, oral or displayed — made from a project funded under this call for applications must bear a mention of the endowment fund's support and must be sent for validation to fonds-de-dotation@galenic.com
- Once designated, the winners will be asked to provide a 10-to-15-line summary of their project in "general public" language and a photo of their team, if possible in a laboratory setting.
- The winners will be required to be present at at least two of the following events after the awarding of the prize:
- At the proclamation ceremony during the annual Gala, during which they must present their project. A presentation template will be provided by the endowment fund.
- At the following year's Gala, to present the results of their work.
- The winners and their team will also be required to respond to requests from the endowment fund and the Galénic brand in order to support communication around their research project, during video-portrait/photo/interview sessions, on any communication medium or media. The content will make it possible to present the projects following the proclamation, during the research, and at the end of the project. The GALENIC DERMATOLOGY RESEARCH FUND and the Galénic brand reserve the right to use this content in all forms of media: press, social networks, websites, media, events, in France and throughout the world.
- The winners give their consent to assign their image rights (droit à l'image) (capture, exploitation and distribution) within the framework of the events organized and the content produced by the endowment fund and the Galénic brand, free of charge, for a duration of 15 years, and throughout the world.
- Confidentiality
From the submission of an application file, the present and future exchanges between the endowment fund and the applicants — in particular those relating to the possible funding agreement that may arise between them — are strictly confidential, except for an obligation of communication pursuant to a law or a regulation or to satisfy a request from a competent authority.
This confidentiality obligation enters into force from the submission of an application file and is applicable for a period of 3 years from the decision taken by the endowment fund (whether a rejection decision or a favorable decision), subject to the communications provided for in article 8.3 "Protection of personal data" and article 9 "Prevention of corruption" below.
- Intellectual property
The endowment fund remains the owner of all of its information, tools, systems, software, documentation, data, databases, brands, logos, photos, stories and other intellectual property rights used in the context of the submission of the application file and in the context of any subsequent exchanges with the applicant, including the discussions relating to a possible funding agreement. Consequently, the documents emanating from the endowment fund are its exclusive property and may not be reproduced, except with express authorization.
- Protection of personal data
The winners and their team will also be required to respond to requests from the endowment fund and the Galénic brand in order to support communication around their research project, during video-portrait/photo/interview sessions, on any communication medium or media.
The call for projects is an initiative developed by the GALENIC DERMATOLOGY RESEARCH FUND. The endowment fund acts as the data controller (responsable de traitement) of the applicants' personal data.
The endowment fund processes the applicants' personal data in accordance with the regulations in force and in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter "RGPD" / GDPR) that came into force on 24 May 2016, Directive EU No. 2002/58, the "Informatique et Libertés" law No. 78-17 amended by Ordinance No. 2018-1125 of 12 December 2018, and the deliberations of the CNIL. It guarantees that adequate technical and organizational measures are taken to protect this personal data from unauthorized or unlawful access, accidental loss, alteration or destruction.
The informed consent of the applicant project leader is the legal basis allowing the processing of the data. Thus, when the applicant decides to participate in the endowment fund's call for projects, the latter is led to process their personal data in order to manage the applications.
The applicant project leader communicates these rules and the information notice relating to personal data to the other members of the project — before entering their information on the application platform.
The endowment fund is likely to process personal data in global databases accessible by the authorized personnel of Galénic Cosmetics Laboratory. Transfers outside Europe are carried out in accordance with the applicable data protection laws (standard contractual clauses issued by the European Commission).
The endowment fund processes the applicants' personal data for the time necessary for the selection of the funded projects. Thus, the data of applicants whose project is not selected at the end of the call for projects will be deleted after the announcement of the results of the selected projects. The data relating to applicants whose projects are selected will be kept for 2 years after the end of the Project.
Applicants may contact the endowment fund to exercise their rights related to personal data. These rights may consist of the right of access, of rectification or updating, the right to erasure, to restriction or to objection, and finally the right to portability. The applicant may contact the endowment fund's Data Protection Officer (Délégué à la Protection des Données) at the following address: fonds-de-dotation@galenic.com or at GALENIC, 3 rue du Colonel Moll, 75017 PARIS.

- That they – as well as any person or company working on their behalf – shall not, directly or indirectly, offer, pay, promise to pay or authorize an offer, promise, payment or transfer of anything of value to any natural or legal person for the purpose of obtaining or maintaining any business or any unjustified advantage/activity in connection with their application or the research project, failing which this would constitute a violation of the legislation in force and of the applicable regulations concerning or relating to public or private corruption, and they undertake in particular to comply with the obligations relating to conflicts of interest, as defined in articles 433-1 et seq. of the Penal Code (code pénal).
- That the financial elements provided as part of their application, as well as their accounting, accounts, records and invoices, are and will be complete and accurate.
